Learning Difficulties

The teacher or year advisors are the first people to talk with if your grandchild is having a problem at school. If they are unable to assist make an appointment with the principal.

School counsellors help with personal, social, psychological and learning problems and will see your child on a one-to-one basis if necessary. You can make an appointment to see the school counsellor as well if you wish.

Students with learning difficulties and disabilities

Ask about the Learning Assistance Program at school if your child has a basic learning difficulty. Trained support teachers are available. If your child has severe learning difficulties the district office Learning Difficulties Support Team may assist the child and the school.

Students with disabilities may be enrolled in regular or support classes at school and may attend special education schools. Contact your local school or the Regional Office tel 131 536 for advice.
