Handy Hints
When you are talking with Centrelink:
Let them know that you are a grandparent raising your grandchildren. Centrelink officers have been given specific training to help grandparents access the financial assistance they need.
Have you heard of The Blue Book?
It is a booklet, bound in a blue plastic cover, produced by the NSW Department of Health, which is given to the parents when each child was born with a record of the first medical examination after birth.
It is a place to keep medical details which helps parents and medical professionals keep track of the health and development of children.
Because it contains immunisation details it is useful when enrolling children at school.
It is particularly useful for grandparents who are not fluent in English and therefore have difficulty understanding and explaining the medical history of their grandchildren.
Having difficulties with financing educational needs?
